Workshops that help you imagine cities in stories
We love telling stories. And we love help you tell your stories.
We conduct hands-on workshops and talks that help students, professionals, and organisations see cities differently.
Through comics, mapping, humour, and visual storytelling and data visualization, participants learn how to simplify complex ideas, data understand people and places, and communicate design with clarity and empathy.
Each session is tailored to the audience — from college studios to global organisations — creating learning experiences that stay long after the workshop ends.
College Workshops
These workshops are ideal for architecture, design, planning, and communication students who want to document places, think critically, and communicate ideas visually through comics and storytelling. Ideal for college festivals, design festivals, elective studios, vertical studios, academic labs, and even longer studio-based, semester long programmes that explore cities, architecture, public spaces, and the built environment through comics and storytelling.
Travel Workshops
Our travel workshops are longer, studio-based programmes where participants spend time in a city, neighbourhood, or local area to document its stories, spaces, people, and everyday issues. Through field visits, mapping, observation, writing, and drawing, students learn how to understand a place closely and present their findings through comics and visual storytelling.
These workshops are ideal for documenting local histories, urban issues, public spaces, knowledge systems, heritage precincts, neighbourhood life, and changing relationships between people and the built environment.
Communication Workshops
These workshops are useful for organisations that work with complex ideas and need to communicate them better.
They are ideal for government agencies, NGOs, research institutes, think tanks, CSR teams, universities, cultural institutions, and private organisations working in areas such as cities, climate, health, WASH, mobility, public policy, education, and social impact.
Talks and Seminars
Our talks and seminars share Leewardists’ and Urbanist Comix's journey of using comics, humour, illustration, and storytelling to communicate cities, architecture, public spaces, and complex urban issues. Designed for colleges, design festivals, conferences, organisations, and public programmes, these sessions introduce audiences to how visual storytelling can make the built environment more accessible, engaging, and easier to discuss.
Other Workshops
These sessions are for festivals, conferences, cultural spaces, museums, public programmes, and organisations that want to explore comics, cities, humour, and visual storytelling in an engaging format.
