Travel Workshops
Conducted with students from ENSAPLV, Paris, this studio workshop for their semester focused on documenting La Goutte d’Or, a neighbourhood shaped by migration, markets, everyday public life, and a strong network of local organisations. The main focus of the programme was to help students develop an understanding with locals, listen to them and help translate that communication through a medium that is accessible to all ages, genders and communities. "Comics" is that one language that helps achieve that.
Our team developed lectures to break down the processes of comic making but also how to simplify and visualize data and statistics through illustrations, develop clarity of thought and present through powerful images and writing.
Students worked closely with local NGOs, associations, and community spaces in the area to understand how they support residents, create social connections, and respond to the neighbourhood’s changing needs. Through field visits, conversations, mapping, writing, and comics, the workshop helped students translate these stories into visual narratives that made the social and spatial life of La Goutte d’Or more accessible.
The studio was a hybrid (online lectures and on site studio) with site visits and a final exposition in the neighborhood itself with the comics exhibited for 1 month for everyone to see.
