Leewardists was invited to conduct a workshop at the WCFA Accelerator Labs, where students explored comics and visual storytelling as tools to observe, question, and communicate ideas and their experiences about Mysuru.

Scale Magazine featured Build-a-Story, our installation with BBLOX Design for Makkala Hubba, where children used cardboard cubes and a mural backdrop by Leewardists to create an evolving comic strip.

Paani ki Kahaani, a three-year research project on Rajasthan’s traditional water systems, comes together as an exhibition at Alliance Française de Delhi for International Water Day 2026. Developed across Jaipur, Udaipur, and Jaisalmer, the project brings together research, visual storytelling, films done by architecture students from ASA Jaipur and BVCOA Navi Mumbai to reflect on water heritage and climate resilience. The initiative has also been recognised under the France–India Year of Innovation 2026.

The Rahad Workshop Exhibition showcased student work from Maharashtra Water Stories, documenting Nashik’s underground water tanks and their relationship with Holi, local culture, memory, and the city’s older ecological water systems. The exhibition brought together isometric maps, visual research, and a 21-minute film developed during the workshop with students from BVCOA, Navi Mumbai at Environ Planners, Nashik.

Our "We Don’t Need..." series has always been very close to our hearts, premise being creative professionals being replaced by AI, so it was special when KHOJ Studios commissioned a new comic in the series, this time on artists. The comic was exhibited publicly at KHOJ and DLF Saket Mall, for their exhibition "Are you Human" bringing together AI, creativity, humour, and visual storytelling to ask what happens when we start imagining a world that thinks it does not need artists.

A talk and debate by Shreya Khandekar at Urbanistas Brussels on comics, humour, communication, and activism. Hosted with Incendiarie BXL, the session explored urban life in Indian cities and the everyday challenges faced by women, queer people, and invisibilised communities.

Build-a-Story, our interactive installation for Makkala Hubba created in collaboration with BBLOX Design, was covered by Luru Magazine.

The piece looked at our journey with Leewardists and Urbanist Comix, and how we transitioned from architecture comics to talking about cities at large - making conversations around climate, public spaces, mobility, gender, and urban change more relatable and accessible.

Leewardists was invited to speak at KLAF Malaysia’s DATUM:PLUS, where we shared our journey as architects who practise differently through comics, humour, visual storytelling, and public communication around cities.

Our comic on Mumbai Coastal Forest was featured as part of the citizens’ campaign to raise awareness about the need for a 100-acre native coastal forest in Mumbai. The comic helped communicate why urban forests matter for cleaner air, cooler cities, biodiversity, and accessible public spaces. Click to read the full article.
