Shreya Khandekar was invited by Urbanistas Brussels for a talk and debate on the power of comics and humour in communication and activism. Hosted in collaboration with the Italian collective Incendiarie BXL, the session explored how drawings and comics can open conversations around life in contemporary Indian cities.
Through Leewardists’ work, the talk looked at the everyday urban issues faced by women, and other invisibilised communities, while also reflecting on the similarities and differences between Indian and European urban conditions. The session created space for dialogue on how humour, storytelling, and visual narratives can make conversations around cities more accessible, critical, and inclusive.
