Sponsored comics typically take 4–6 weeks to complete. This includes research, writing, scripts, storyboarding, illustration, colours, design, and final formatting.
The timeline may vary depending on the complexity of the topic, the amount of research involved, the final format, and whether external researchers or experts are part of the process.

Which tier is best if we are seeking a collaboration?

Accepted Answer

We have three sponsorship tiers based on how much someone can support a project. For individuals, followers, and students, the support amount is kept flexible so people can contribute what they can.
Researchers, collectives, and organisations can choose higher tiers depending on the level of support and association they are looking for. All sponsors receive acknowledgement, and as the tiers go up, the benefits increase, including more visibility, project access, and opportunities for collaboration.

Are these client projects?

Accepted Answer

No. Sponsored comics are different from our communication consultancy projects. These ideas are developed in-house, and sponsorship helps support their research, writing, illustration, production, and dissemination. What kinds of themes do you explore?

Accepted Answer

We usually work on themes around cities, climate, gender, public space, mobility, sanitation, care, infrastructure, children, accessibility, and everyday urban life. If you are a researcher, organisation, you can also suggest a topic, especially if it aligns with our larger interests. If it fits, we can explore whether it becomes a sponsored comic, collaboration, or consultancy project.

Do sponsors own the comic?

Accepted Answer

The intellectual property and creative ownership of all sponsored comics remains with Leewardists.
Sponsors are acknowledged based on the selected tier. This may include name credits, caption mentions, logo placement, website acknowledgement, or other agreed forms of visibility depending on the level of support.

Can I collaborate on the research?

Accepted Answer

Yes, it depends on the project. For some sponsored comics, we already work with independent researchers or subject experts to strengthen the story. If you are a researcher, practitioner, or organisation working in a related area and would like to contribute, write to us and we can explore if there is a meaningful fit.
