Urbanity of Occupations, Kolkata
Urbanity of Occupations, Kolkata
Travel Workshops
Urbanity of Occupations was developed through an Indo-French workshop in Kolkata, where architecture students documented the occupations, trades, people, and everyday practices connected to Chitpur Road.
The workshop explored how occupations shape the urban life of a street, and how architecture, the river, markets, workshops, and communities are deeply connected.
Leewardists were invited to create a graphic novel from the research, bringing together stories of livelihoods, memory, built form, and the changing relationship between people and place.
